Life Outside BBA
My life outside BBA has been wonderful. It’s nothing I cannot handle.
Challenges
Well, I’m usually a very busy person, but it’s just that right now, I’ve been a very unstable person. Sometimes, I can’t even stay here in Lagos for a week without traveling here and there. I think that’s a good thing because good things are coming out of it. And apparently, there’s always the negative side and that is mostly things that are not true that you hear about yourself; how people see you and so on. Some people don’t really bother about perception, but if you’re somebody like me, you will think about it and sometimes it will affect your work. But I thank God that my life has been good.
Sex Scene at The BBA House
Apparently, I don’t feel sorry because I was being myself. So, I can’t say sorry to anyone who feels disappointed. They’re living their lives and I’m living mine. The only difference is that I was in a house where I had to make the platform work for me; the platform everybody enjoyed seeing me make. If you guys stuck to your television for 91 days only to see my faults, then you should check yourself because people have their faults and it’s only people with faults that quickly notice that in other persons. I don’t criticize people and I don’t think people should criticize me… no matter how you look at it, I’m still a youth

I Sold My CD’s at Salons to Survive – Banky W Reveals

Banky W is a renowned name in R&B industry now, but he wasn’t always among the best. There was a time the songwriter-singer was broke, struggling and unsure of success.
Read the most interesting facts of Banky W has revealed in the latest interview:

“Everybody knows me to be the Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of EME, but what people do not know is that EME started when I was in my third year in university in New York.
You see, we all dream dreams, but it is important to think very big and start where you are because God never gives you everything but gives you enough to start.
At that time, I knew I wanted to do music, but of course I understood nobody starts by selling a million CDs or the big screen!
I worked in fast foods outlets, clothing stores and as a knife salesman, selling knives from door to door. That way, I gathered money to pay for studio recording time. I was recording with a close friend at that time.
After making that music, we printed a thousand CDs though we didn’t have any fan. I had one battered car that broke down virtually everywhere, so, we would print black and white posters, stick them on the sides of the car, sell from the car’s trunk and drive to salons to do marketing.
We would walk to the owners of the salons, greet politely, and ask them to let us entertain their customers. Sometimes, some would kick us out and sometimes some would say yes. If told yes, after singing for a minute or two, we would sell our CDs to the customers! That was the beginning!
A lot of people see you on stage and see the success but do not know what you had to go through! I never had one really big break; it was always two steps forward and a couple backwards.
But I just decided that I was going to make music work for me. That was why I moved on to a new salon each time any salon rejected me!
I just kept going because I believe failure is when you give up. Albert Einstein said he tried a hundred times to make the light bulb. When he was asked what kept him going during the 99 times, he said: ‘I didn’t consider those 99 times as failure; rather, I considered them 99 ways that it didn’t work!’
We went about selling CDs and, on the days we couldn’t sell much, we would sit down and be broke together. I remember my friend was a member of a church that usually served food after service. So, on the days we didn’t sell CDs and were too broke to buy food, we would attend service in that church so we could pack rice and store in the fridge.
At a point, being a student of industrial engineering, I was working for an engineering company and was recording as well. I would go to work from 7am till about 2pm and then go to school till about 8pm, and then drive two and a half hours to New York City where the studio that would let us record for less was, and record until about 2am.
I would then drive two and a half hours back home to be back at work at 7am the following day.
One day, I was driving home from work and was so tired that I fell asleep while on a bridge. I would have driven off from the top of the bridge to God knows where, if not for an on-going construction work. God really saved me!
After a while, Banky’s hard work began to pay off and, even while in school, he began winning awards, beginning with the ‘Albany Idol’ competition. Other international awards soon followed.
In 2008 when he decided to move to Nigeria after the completion of one of his albums, Mr Capable, Banky was consistently told his genre of music ‘would never appeal to Nigerians and therefore wouldn’t ‘sell’.
As he got turned down, pressure mounted on him and his manager to change their genre of music but Banky strongly held on to another long-standing principle which had taught him to stand out by being unique rather than trying to imitate anyone’s skill.
He therefore insisted on sticking to R&B, and this paid-off as he soon became a household name in the Nigerian entertainment industry!
Banky W advice to Readers and Fans:
“You cannot say enough about the grace of God and I therefore do not want to claim any form of glory. Falling down is inevitable but getting back up is optional!
Frankly, you can’t appreciate sunshine if you’ve never been through a heavy rain. Yes, life is tough, but what do you do in those tough moments?
Do you learn the lesson, stand up again, consider yourself stronger and keep going? Or do you sit down and feel sorry for yourself?
The graveyard, they say, is the richest place in the world because therein lies so many who died with their dreams. So, my advice is, do not give up! If Banky can be where he is today, you can be where you want to be if you put to mind to it.”

PDP crisis: Nyako, others will soon join us –APC

Adamawa State governor, Rear Admiral Murtala Nyako (rtd) from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the newly formed All Progressives Congress, APC. A reliable source in APC confirmed yesterday.
The source, who asked not to be named, also disclosed that Nyako’s defection is likely to be this week, stressing that the governor, who is one of the G7 in the PDP, would move over with all his supporters in Adamawa State. “Governor Nyako and his supporters have indicated their interest to earnestly join the APC and we have concluded plans to receive them into our party.
“It is sure that Governor Nyako and his numerous supporters are already in the APC. What the party is only waiting for is their public declaration and a reception to usher them into the party. I can tell you that they are with us but until the public declaration, no official of our party will be ready to declare that to the media”, the source disclosed to Sunday Mirror.
The source also said Nyako appears ‘the early bird’ to enter the APC, other aggrieved governors from the PDP are also on their way. “The others are just bidding time and consulting with their supporters on the planned move before they will dump the PDP”, he further disclosed. When pressed further on when Nyako and his supporters would officially join the party, he said, “They are already discussing with the party leadership and it will be very soon.
“You know we will soon begin our membership registration across the country, so they have nothing to lose by not making their defection known immediately.”
It would be recalled that Nyako during the week declared that the PDP “is a dead body” which he and his supporters would not have any regrets if they left it.
The Adamawa factional state chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Mijinyawa Kugama, in Yola last week also declared that plans had been concluded by the governor’s camp to defect and that they were only waiting for Nyako’s approval to know when they would leave the ruling party. Kugama spoke at a meeting with APC leaders, stressing that he and his supporters would not have any regrets leaving the PDP.
The meeting was attended by members of Nyako’s cabinet, other political appointees, 19 members of the state House of Assembly, other political stakeholders loyal to the governor and Nyako’s first son, Commander Abdulaziz Nyako (rtd), who declared his membership of the APC at the meeting. One of the APC leaders in the state, Alhaji Abdulrahman Adamu, assured Nyako and his supporters of equal treatment and fair play in the party, stating that the APC was founded on the pillars of equity, justice and fair play.
Speaking earlier, the National Vice-Chairman (North-East) of APC, Alhaji Umar Duhu, praised Nyako for his achievements in the state, adding that they were eagerly awaiting his return to the “progressives’ fold.”
It would also be recalled that Nyako told reporters after visiting the governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido, that PDP was a dead body, adding, “People used to leave their religions for another but PDP is not a religion which means leaving it would not be regrettable.
“There is no regret for us to be accused of deserting a dead body because to me, I would not want to be buried with the dead body; so PDP is a dead party and if they feel like expelling us from the party, so be it.  What a new battle.

PDP crisis: Presidency insists on meeting with G7 govs today •Takes on Lamido over claim on Jonathan, •Tukur Tukur not a bona fide member of PDP - New PDP

ntention of G7 governors of the New Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to stay away from today’s meeting called by President Goodluck Jonathan to resolve the lingering crisis in the party, the presidency is going ahead with its plans, hoping that the governors will still attend.
The president, some governors of PDP, party stakeholders loyal to him and the aggrieved governors had agreed in their meeting of September 15, held at the Presidential Villa, to sheathe their swords and return to a final round of meeting today, where they hoped all outstanding disagreements would be resolved.
But the Abubakar Baraje-led splinter group, to which the rebel governors were loyal, in a media statement last week, indicated that it was seeking a postponement of the meeting, as it coincided with the time most of the seven governors would be out of the country on Muslim pigrimage.
But the Nigerian Tribune learnt on Sunday that beyond what it saw on the pages of the newspapers, the presidency had not been officially notified of their decision not to attend.
It is, therefore, going ahead with the preparations for the meeting, which was expected to take place at the First Lady wing of the Presidential Villa.
The Special Adviser to the President, Alhaji Ahmed Gulak, confirmed to the Nigerian Tribune in a phone call on Sunday that President Jonathan was ready to receive the governors today or any time at all.
He said though the presidency had seen the statement of the splinter group in the media, it was yet to be officially informed, adding that the presidency would not act on media speculations.
Asked to confirm if the meeting had been put off, he said “the meeting is supposed to hold tomorrow (today). Let’s wait for tomorrow before you begin to ask questions.”
Reminded that New PDP had said the aggrieved governors would not be available, Gulak added: “That’s the report we are reading in the newspapers, but the best thing is to wait for tomorrow (today) whether the meeting will hold or not. If the meeting doesn’t hold, you can call me (to find out) and if we have any reason to give, we can then give you.
“But, as of today (Sunday), I don’t work on speculations on the papers, I have not seen their formal letter of request to postpone the meeting. I just read it in the pages of newspapers. So, maybe by tomorrow (today), we will know the correct position.
“Well, as far as we are concerned, the president is waiting, any time any day.”
The presidential aide also responded to the claim made on Saturday by Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State that both President Jonathan and the national chairman of PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, were joiners, who wanted to take over a house that did not belong to them.
Receiving some of his supporters from Kano State, Lamido had said “at the time Tukur became chairman, we were already governors. He contributed nothing to us; we are the ones who favoured him after he was rejected by his zone and defeated by Babayo Gamawa in a shadow election conducted in the North-West zone. We said, don’t worry let us meet in Abuja. We met in Abuja, we supported him and we made him the national chairman.
“At that time, Nyako, Kwankwaso, Wamakko, Babangida Aliyu, Amaechi and I were already in office, having won our second term elections. What did Bamanga contribute to us? Who favoured who between us?
“There is no way someone who was favoured and is squatting would be allowed to claim a house and attempt to send owners of the house out of their own compound. When the PDP was formed and registered, where were Tukur and Jonathan?”
But the presidential aide debunked the claim, saying both Jonathan and Tukur were original members of the PDP.
While he noted that Jonathan was the deputy governor of his state in 1999, less than a year after the party’s formation, he also recalled that Tukur was a founding father of PDP.
According to Gulak, “Tukur was one of the pioneer members of PDP. Tukur is a founding father of PDP in 1998. So, they should know. Any governor should know that. Any governor that was there from G-18 to G-34 to PDP. Tukur was always there. So, nobody can tell us that Tukur was not there when PDP was formed.
“As for the president, he was there when PDP was formed and, in 1999, he was the deputy governor of his state and today, by the grace of God, he is the leader of the party by all intent and purposes. So, nobody can call him a tenant in PDP.
“He is the real landlord that he is and he is the leader of the party. So, the fact remains the same, the president is the leader of the party and Bamanga Tukur is the national chairman. This is legally and constitutionally recognised.”
He added that there was only one certificate of registration of PDP with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), adding that “these are facts, they are not speculations.”
New PDP demands Tukur’s resignation, unified convention
The leadership of the Baraje-led faction of PDP, again, demanded  the immediate resignation of Alhaji Tukur on the ground that he was not a registered and card-carrying member of the party.
The faction also called for the holding of a unity convention under Baraje, whom it asked should take over the party after the resignation of Tukur.
In a statement issued by its national publicity Secretary, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka, it accused Tukur of attempting to falsify party records to cover up facts about his irregular return to the party after his earlier expulsion, warning that such an action was criminal.
The faction alleged that Tukur, who was expelled from PDP in 2006, had not officially returned to the party, adding that all records at its disposal showed that the embattled chairman had not followed due process for his re-admission into the party.
“He neither apply for, nor obtained the requisite waiver by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party before offering himself for election into the office of national chairman in 2012.
“This makes his membership incurably defective and his emergence as PDP national chairman null and void and of no effect whatsoever, since he is the product of a flawed process,” the faction insisted .
Warning that Tukur’s continued occupation of the office of national chairman was fraudulent, illegal and unconstitutional, the faction added that “all the actions he has taken as the chairman of PDP since his purported election in March 2012, including the illegal, contentious convention of August 2013, are null and void and of no effect.”
The statement then canvassed that Tukur be eased out by offering him a ministerial appointment and Baraje, who handed over to Tukur, be recalled to continue in office.
“We hereby formally suggest the immediate recall of Alhaji Baraje, who erroneously handed over to Alhaji Tukur as the national chairman of PDP.
“This will enable Alhaji Baraje to organise a proper, unified convention that will usher in a duly elected National Working Committee (NWC) of the party as early as possible, to enable us to face the business of positioning PDP as the ruling party in 2015,” the faction stated.

being sexy is not about big or large Buttocks- Mercy JOHNSON

Background
I am Mercy Johnson, an actress. I was born 29 years ago and I am the fourth child in a family of seven. My father is an ex-military officer and I left my mother at the age of two to live with him. Due to the nature of his job, he was constantly transferred from one station to another. I am proud of him because he taught me all I needed to know from childhood to adulthood.
Movie industry
I have grown with time and there have been good and bad times. There have been rumours and scandals. Sometimes, when I cry in movies, it wasn’t the script that made me cry. Rather, I reflect on my humble beginning and the height I’ve attained now. This makes me cry.
Journey into acting
After my secondary school education, I approached a friend for assistance to feature in a movie. He took me to the National Theatre, Lagos, but a role did not come until a year later. My first lead role was in a film titled,‘The Maid.’It was quite challenging to interprete because it was my first movie. When I saw the veterans on set, I fidgeted.
A star actress
Life is in phases and I cannot say I have reached the peak of my profession. I have not even won an Oscar yet! There is always a higher mountain to climb, a new vision to fulfill and I am at that point. I want to achieve new and greater dreams.
Fulfillment
The greatest fulfillment is the ability to influence people positively through my acting.
Challenges
Life is not a bed of roses; it comes with challenges which make me stronger and who I am.
Nollywood: Then and now
We have achieved feats which the old Nollywood did not achieve. It is all about progression and I am sure that in the future, Nollywood will achieve a greater feat than it is doing currently.
Relationship
My husband is loving and he is an understanding man. I am so happy to be married to him. I acted a movie,‘Baby Oku in America’when I was heavily pregnant and he didn’t feel bad about it. He understands that I am an actor and sometimes, we need real life situations, like the pregnancy, to interpret a role. Not many men would allow their wife do that.
Scandals
They are all lies. I just think the media needs to do their verification well before they put any story out. Whenever I read all manner of lies about me in the media, I wonder where all of these came from and regret being an actor. But in all, I move on and take it as one of the hazards of the job. I am fulfilled as an actor.
Mercy Johnson Foundation
I floated the foundation because of my love for the less privileged. One of my greatest joys is to see other people happy. I want to make lasting impact in my society. The objective is to identify the needs of the less privilege, evaluate them and help in our own little way. I strongly believe that as movie stars, we should live beyond the euphoria of stardom.
A sexy woman
It is inbuilt. It’s just how you feel about yourself. For me, being sexy is confidence. It mustn’t be about the hairstyle or the accessories or the big buttocks. It’s about you, liking yourself just the way you are.
Motherhood
My husband is a wonderful man. He makes my job easier and helps carry our daughter, Purity. He feeds her and she misses him whenever he is not around. As a family, we understand one another and we make whatever adjustments we have to make in order to have a good home
